Education and Teaching Courses
The Abiding Heart Education™️ approach is centred on experiential contemplative learning for kindergarten through to class 8 and it is also of particular interest to those who seek professional and inner transformation. Our courses combine contemplative studies with a transformative and experiential approach to learning that is woven through the Waldorf pedagogy and other contemporary learning approaches, such as, integrated and inquiry-based learning. We offer full-time and part-time kindergarten and primary teacher training, Contemplative Foundation Studies, and also short courses.
The Centre offers kindergarten and primary (class 1-8) teacher education courses (diploma-level) which interweave academic lectures, practical curriculum preparation studies, heritage arts and crafts , experiential art classes, meditation, and teaching placements. We also offer parts of our teacher education as stand-alone courses which are open to all. Our curriculum fuses the live experiential and contemplative traditions, which emphasises applying the knowledge acquired to everyday experience, with our transformative learning approach, self-awareness learning, and developmental science, giving rise to our unique and transformative children’s pedagogy.
The Abiding Heart Education courses are for those who seek physical, emotional and mental wellbeing and inner transformation and to those involved in: teaching and teacher training (kindergarten, primary and secondary school, special and inclusive education); children’s social care, child and adult welfare; children’s health care, psychology and therapy; students and researchers of the mentioned disciplines; parents; homeschool settings, holistic based schools; contemplative based schools; and centres with a children’s programme.
