Human Development and Education
The study of consciousness at the intersection of contemplative science, developmental science and holistic perspectives in view, meditation and application
About the course
Abiding Heart Education inaugurated the Child Development from Birth to Rebirth course in 2020, bringing together experts in contemplative science human development, developmental science, and the Steinerian/Waldorf perspective on the nature of the human being. We will learn the contemplative tradition rooted in ancient wisdoms' view of human development and how it relates to child development. In this course, we engage in meditation to explore the view in an experiential way. We learn how to apply the view and meditation when caring for and teaching children. An important aspect of child development in children's pedagogy is for teachers/parents to know what awareness meditation, and contemplative practices are appropriate in each developmental phase from early childhood to adulthood. Also, how we introduce the View and Meditation to children must come from a deep understanding of child development and how children learn in each developmental phase. In this way, we are able to support the child’s well-being and all-round development. As part of application, we also introduce in this course some meditation exercises for children appropriate for each developmental phase.
Forming part of Abiding Heart’s kindergarten and primary teacher training courses, these modules explore physical, socio-emotional, cognitive, self, and spiritual development from conception to birth, through childhood, adult development, and the bardos of death.
The richness and depth of the content are presented following Abiding Heart‘s interactive approach, integrated with experiential art and sacred dance. The online format allows everyone who is interested to join and, at the same time, open a welcoming space where participants can share experiences and form bonds.
